Get a New 1544272 Black Head Light Switch and remove the Circuit Breaker, or not.

You will have the full bright Instruments (the only setting that can be seen!) on both High and Low or none on Low depending on how you wire it because there would be no resister.

If you are electrically inclined and Care to burn off a few Volts, you could could add one.

I might have a NOS one, but I'm on a trip and won't be back in Oregon for a couple more weeks. If you don't find one, send me a pm in October and I'll take a look for it. I bought it years ago thinking I could replace the handle and use it in my GT, but it's not the same switch.

1544274 is the same switch as 1544273 but uses a different value resistor
It will dim the instrument lights different on low (11ohms instead of 5 ohms?)
1544274 was used on Hawks and 1544273 on sedans (1958 only)
                      I forgot if the
1544274 was 5 or 11 ohms.(different number of dash light bulbs)
                      1544273 is easier to find

                        What does this mean Bob?

If you are referring to my suggestion of using a Headlight Switch for a Instrument Light Switch, and the 1544272 IS available, WHY : : "No Luck"?

put headlight switch in and instrument lights work job done.also put new front wiring harness (SI) and it works great. Last piece for electrical is rear harness which has been ordered.
