  • Big Summit Racing annual Stude get-together, Sat. Aug 27, Tallmadge, OH just slightly east of Akron

It's time again for our big annual Summit Racing Studebaker and Independents meet, Sat. Aug.27 from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. at Summit Racing's huge retail store at exit 29 of I-76 in Tallmadge, OH, just slightly east of Akron, OH. We typically get over 100 cars, and Summit's retail store is something to behold. There will be two Studebakers on their inside turntables, providing beautiful exterior views from the windows. Take I-76 to Exit 33 for hotels: Hampton Inn (330-673-8555), Super 8 (330-678-8556). Mention Studebaker Drivers' Club meet. This is truly a great meet. For questions, post here or contact Ohio Region SDC president Don Morgan at donaldmorgan828 at gmail.com.

The Studes on the turntables are Dick Lindsey's metallic bright green custom R-series pickup, and Larry Sherer's white with black vinyl sports roof '64 GT Hawk which was assembled on 12/20/63, the last day the Lark-type and Hawk lines ran in South Bend.

So you would know, Bill: I've been trying to get cousin George to sell you the Jet Green Cruiser in time for the show Saturday...but have made insufficient progress in that regard, so you'll have to drive a Brand X. Sorry. BP

My brother our friend and myself will be leaving Saturday morning to be there the weather according to weather station is to be good except a little warmer than I prefer. This event is one of the best in this area for Studebaker Packard cars. From past experience many makes of independent and orphans present. If you go be sure and take your camera.

Ironically, the Cruiser will be at a multi-make Car Show Saturday, Bill.

George is driving it to a show in little Elm Creek Nebraska on Saturday the 27th, about 20 miles from George's house. He said the town has fewer than 900 people in it, but they do such a nice job that people come from out of state to their show and they had 200-odd cars last year!

It will be that Cruiser's maiden show voyage. BP

Just had my supercharger rebuilt and been dragging my feet to get it back on the road. Hard to get motivated when it's son stinking hot and humid. Not going to make it this year
