Welcome to the SDC and to the SDC Forum Dale!

1959 Hardtops are getting pretty few and far between, they are Great looking Cars and fit in well with Today's Smaller Cars.
    Have you Joined up yet?

This is the Registry Page, so Bill would like your Serial Number from the Driver's Door Post, Body Tag info from the Right Side of the Firewall and if possible the Engine Number from the driver's side Top, Corner of the Block.
It is NOT Raised in the Casting, as that would be on all Blocks, it is hand STAMPED into the Machined Pad with it's Own sequential Number.
That is, IF it is a Lark VIII, V8, I can't tell from the Cellphone dark Pics.

There are many interesting places to go on this Website, so roam around a bit and enjoy.
Here is an especially GOOD one for Newbie's from the Home Page "Resources" Clickdown:

Here's the numbers from under the hood 59S-J6 3800. That's all I have with me on my phone. With this heat, after working all day, I just come home, shower and stay inside. Wife want's A/C added and I need to figure out how to add it to the little six. Just got our welcome letter in the mail on Monday. I'll post more after I get home today.

Dale; you need to start a New thread if want to ask more and talk more about your Car in the Tech or General Forum as THIS String is the '59 Lark Registry.

So from the Body Tag we know you have a 1959 Lark Six, and it is a Regal 2 door Hardtop (the only trim on Hardtops).

From the Serial Number (used nowadays as a "VIN"), a South Bend Built '59 Lark Six.

There is no other data to be found on these I.D. Plates on older Cars and all Studebakers, so if you want more the Production Order can be purchased from the Studebaker National Museum.

I found this for you from Our SDC Home Page "Resources" Link:
              https://www.studebakermuseum.org/sto...duction-orders

Keep in mind it's only MY opinion and just a suggestion, but with the 90 HP Six, I would try driving it a bit to get the 'feel" of it more and spend your efforts, time and Money on the little safety and dependability issues it probably has being 61 years old, before you decide to spend over $1000.00 on an A/C System.

Depending on the terrain in your area, i.e. HILLS or lack of them this little Car, again depending on Transmission Type and Rear Axle ratio MAY have a very hard time pulling much more than itself without an A/C System and the added weight.

Is it a 3 Speed Manual Trans. /3 Speed Manual WITH Overdrive/ or an Automatic?

It's a automatic and surprisingly spunky. All brakes are new, I have new bushings for the control arms as the desert and age has taken it's toll. I also have new shocks to put on and new tires. The tires that were on the car looked good, no cracking and one decided to explode sitting in the driveway. One piece at a time.
