  • Article in latest issue of Auto Round-Up about '61 Rumble Seat Hawk

I got a call 2 weeks ago from a friend in Indiana that subscribes to 'Auto Round-Up' magazine. It took about another week or more for it to get to the news stand. Issue 916 dated 7/17/16 (I think) has an article about the '61 Rumble Seat Hawk. It's in Mid-Michigan and appears to be back on the road. Now I'm on a mission. Since I have the '61 Lark with a rumble seat and the Hawk is back on the radar...I gotta try to get the last 2 (known) surviving '61 Rumble seat 'sisters' back together for the 1st time since they were in Hilker Studebaker's showroom in Chicago Heights 55 years ago. I've attempted to contact the new caretaker of the Hawk and I'm hoping to hear back soon. I'm thinking maybe in S. Bend next May?!?!? It's about 1/2 way between us and I think it would be the perfect place. Wish me luck...stay tuned.

Chris, it wpuld be awesome and appropriate for the Hilker Rumblers to appear together again for the first time in South Bend! Have you posted pics of your Lark?

I think if you do a search above for 'rumble seat lark' you'll see some pics. It was in the March 2015 Turning Wheels also.

Since you have the Lark... I have a question...and a challenge.
I'd like to see a picture of the Lark (a/o the Hawk) with a couple of adults sitting in the rumble seat.
I can't fathom where your legs will go.
Please put that life mystery for me to bed.
I've not seen a picture of either with anybody in the seat.

Indian cross leg style I would guess ! Jeff.

Chris good luck in getting them together for the 53rd int meet! I'm waiting for the Doubletree to release rooms. See you there. With my car hopefully as well. (3rd in line for paint)

No mystery...leg room is nonexistent. Great for kids or gymnasts. The Hawk probably has more but I can't sat for sure
