  • We've come full circle!

Even twenty years ago, hobbyists knew a 2-door sedan or coupe had a "B" pillar, and a 2-door hardtop did not.

Then we entered the Brave New World where not enough people knew the difference between body styles with and without a "B" pillar, so the [repulsive, I might add [xx(]] term "post" came to describe a 2-door sedan or coupe. (True hobbyists wanting to buy a post still went to Farm & Fleet.)

To complete the circle of illegitimate body style descriptions, it is now apparently necessary to describe a true 2-door hardtop as a 2-door non-post! (Public schools should teach these things in history class...[}]) BP

The attention to detail when painting the engine compartment is amazing....

I only looked at the car because my Mom had one in 1963. Hers was dark green w/light green stripe. I nearly cut a toe off on the bumper- while riding my bike past it in the driveway... She traded it for 125 fenceposts for our back yard...

That is correct. No DeSoto 2-door POST sedans in '55.

The only hardtop produced today (that I know of) is the Mercedes. They call it a "Pillarless coupe"

I am old enough to remember when they were called "hardtop convertibles", but then Ford came out with a real hardtop convertible and they were just called hardtops. Pillarless coupe makes more sense today IMO, but you have to know the history.

What does that decklid say? CLK 950 ? Huh![:0] Never heard of that one, but I guess one would have to go to the local MB Dealership every month to stay up with the changes, and I'm not one who cares! It looks just like any common Honda with a Hardtop roof!
