I'm coming from the east end of Long Island, so I'll be taking the Cross sound ferry to New London. I'd like to avoid I-95. Is rte. 1 a good alternative?

I don't blame you for wanting to avoid I-95, but taking Rt 1 will nearly double your driving time. It's about an hour on the interstate.Chip
