  • This one seems reasonable

A few days ago I commented on a 4dr. JP posted as a good deal... I actually like 4drs. and watch them, so I had an opinion.

Now comes a 55 2dsd body that looks like a heck of a deal to me... looking past the horrendous yellow, it looks like a great base for someone who wants one, especially if one has a complete but rusty donor. Reminds me of my Frankenstein project[8D]...

Am I wrong about this being on the money?

Bob, but the yellow car is rusty too ? At the BIN, you'd have $2500 or so in a rusty 55 in your driveway, missing all the expensive bits.

This is Bill Dyer in my old stomping grounds. A good guy.

IMHO, the car is certainly worth the BIN...but will probably need to be sold to someone who can come and get it and be home the same day.

John, you say rusty, and I guess that's the big question- just how rusty is it? It looked like the floors were good- if the frame and floors are solid, wouldn't that be a great match for a complete one that's rusted, rather than CE pans and trunk? I mean, if someone was wanting to do a complete resto anyway, it's a great start- question is, how much to pay for that advantage

I agree, the shipping would be a deal-breaker for me at the BIN... but if I wanted one of these, I'd ask for closer pics, and think hard about it

OK, not knocking the guys car at the asking price but look at the bottom of the front fenders and doors, the deck lid and especially the trunk weatherstrip channel. Well worth it if the shipping would not double your cost, but not a rust free example either. ( Not priced like one either)

Yeah, I guess that's the answer... I paid $500 for the 62 Daytona body- about as complete as this one. Excellent floors, trunk, frame as well as doors and quarters; fenders are usable. The key was I drove after it and combined it with a mini-vacation.

If I'd had to ship it from CA it probably wouldn't have been worth it.

Oh BTW- I'm not interested in this car; I do want a 55, but it has to be a 4dr. or 2dsd... leave those swoopy "Lowery" bodies for those who love 'em Just wondering what they're worth.

(Or maybe it's 20 degrees, dark, and snowing, and I'm bored...?)
