Yesterday, I went to my local Bank to take care of a couple of routine transactions. As I entered, I was greeted by the usual bevy of pleasant tellers and clerks. The main conversation was about the big swing in the weather from last week. Last week, we were in the middle of, what passes for extreme winter weather for this part of the south. We were experiencing freezing rain, sleet, and snow. Schools, businesses, and institutions shutting down everywhere. Yesterday... Shirt sleeve weather.
After I had finished my business, the bank manager came rushing up to me and said, "Wait a minute, John!" I've got something for you!" Well, not knowing whether or not he had uncovered some long lost financial obligation that had confiscated what little remains of my assets, or perhaps a legitimate Nigerian cashiers check
, I was conflicted by thoughts of what was about to happen
.
Then...he presents me with the March edition of HEMMINGS CLASSIC CAR! The one with the Packard Hawk on the cover and an article by Bob Palma. I suppose if you are going to develop a reputation, being known as a Studebaker enthusiast, has its benefits. Due to other goings on, I have yet to read the articles, but plan to soon. Why...this could even lead me to expanding my car magazine subscriptions to more than just "Turning Wheels."
