1950 Champion 4 door rear-view mirror

I came across the following pic of a 1950 Champion four-door sedan in a box of family photos. Written on the back are just the words: "Chuck's car". Anyway, I noticed that the rear-view mirror on this car is mounted on the dash. I thought that only convertibles and Starlight coupes had mirrors mounted on the dash? My 1950 four-door sedan has the mirror mounted on the windshield divider. I'm just curious about this little detail.

Are you sure it's on the dash? There were a few sets of holes in the windshield center bar. Maybe it's just mounted low?

I hadn't thought of that, Roy. I took it for granted that, since it wasn't mounted where mine was, that it had to be on the dash. No way to be sure from the picture and the car is long gone, too. I guess it will just remain a mystery, unless someone has seen a 1950 Champion 4-door with a dash-mounted mirror.

The dash mounted mirrors are on cars with one piece windshields. For 1950, those would be starlight coupes, convertibles and Land Cruisers.

Yep Two piece windshields had mirrors mounted on the center bar. You can choose what height you want it at.
