  • 60 lark convertible

A friend just got a lark conv and wants to know what engine it has and any other info on it he can get. id # 60si788i. He would also like any information or pictures of the throttle linkage for his 4 barrel with 3 speed and overdrive.

Hard to tell what engine he has but if it has a 4 barrel then it must be a V-8 but what year and size with out numbers off the block it could be any thing, number is stamped on a flat smooth pad on front driver side of the engine on top might need to clean off dirt and what ever, but the Id number you gave states the car was a 6 cyl. from the factory.

I would assume your friend is incredibly anxious to join the Studebaker Drivers Club, as information is everything the club is about.

If the car is a 60S, then it started out life with a six cylinder engine.

Your engine is probably a 259 cu. in V-8. At least that's the V-8 that Studebaker provided that year. Since your engine is a replacement for its original six, it's anyone's guess which V-8 is in your car.
