I was up at my wife's farm last weekend for a wedding and this 66 Commander was sitting on the main drag of this town of 300 in the northeast corner "red corner" of Montana. It is said to be a running, drivable car, but has some crud in the gas tank so is sucking gas from a jury-rigged can. I did not see an air cleaner. The car has a nice black leatherette interior, front seat worn out on drivers side, back seat is nice, door panels are nice, and surprisingly, there is very little rust on the instrument bezels. Three speed stick shift, may have an overdrive, has 3 of the 4 original "dog dish" hubcaps, and virtually no rust in the usual places. It may be a North Dakota car. A bunch of body dents on the right side of the car (not pictured). Judging by the car's condition, it probably belonged to an older person who got a few dents as his [or her] vision deteriorated. I just stopped to look, am not interested in buying it as I would have to haul it 450 miles to my home in the southwest corner "gold & silver country" of Montana. Besides, I have '64 and '65 Cruisers, which I have [sort of] restored. They are the 2nd and 3rd photos in the line. Contact me by private message as I if interested in the "66 (1st in the line.) as I doubt if forum rules will allow me to place owner's phone number in this post.

The only problem I have is that it is 1400 miles away in a very small town. I will see about how much a carrier would charge me to bring it to Tucson, but it may put it out of reach. Price seems fair: always liked the way the 64-66 cars look feel and drive. Is any winter visitors coming to Arizona and bringing an empty trailer?

I like it. The town Froid as named stands for cold in French. The thought of the poor car sitting outside this winter gives me chills up and down my spine in 96 degree Tucson today. Any suggestions for a car carrier that is reasonable?

I had an Avanti hauled from Tulsa to Los Angeles by Waggoner's Trucking of Billings, Montana, which is not far from Froid, and they were quite reasonable. I also had 8 cars shipped by car transport by NEDS Auto Transport in Smithfield, Utah, which averaged about $500 per car from Los Angeles to Anaconda, Montana. Call the owner of the Commander in Froid, Montana. He would either be willing to bring the car to you or recommend someone who would do so.

Thanks Jack for the information. Since I don't have a current Studebaker to drive I think this would fill the bill. I have contacted by the internet uship so far and will look into waggonerstrucking as well. Then I will decide to pull the trigger or not and contact the owner.
This would be just a slight diversion from my over all big project. Something to consider but I do miss having a Studebaker to drive occasionally
