  • 63 and 64 chevron emblens

Recently bought chevron emblems for my 64 hawk.
From studebaker parts.com stationed in Arizona! I was wondering who their supplier is and if anyone else has noticed they don't fit! I've already painted my doors.. I don't feel like drilling or filling holes to make new ones because the pegs are way off! Is this supplier the only option I have! Also would be interested in nos chrome ones if anyone has them out there!

Sorry, most reproduction Stude. Parts are Single sourced, I don't think you have any choice but to use one matching hole and drill the other.

Make sure you didn't get ones for a 1963!! The mounting studs are NOT the same distance apart between the two years!

I've found that problem on many reproduction parts for Studebakers. It's unfortunate that we have no other choice & that whoever first had the tooling made didn't correct it at the beginning. If I were you I'd use just one pin & put the emblem on with 2 sided tape to hold it. The only other solution would be to wait & pay threw the nose for an original part that you know will fit properly.

Another example of our poorly sourced parts is the plastic spear lens that are used on top of the front fenders on G.T. Hawks. I put one on my car & within months it yellowed while the original one on the other side is as clear as the day it was made, almost 53 years ago.

For some reason Studebaker changed the pin location on the 1964 Hawk door chevrons. I didn't realize this until after we'd had them made using the 1963 location and it's too expensive to have another mold made with the 1964 pin location. Our next catalog will note the difference and the necessity to drill new holes in the 1964 doors.

Could another pin hole be drilled in the mold, then you'd just use a Dremel to remove the pin not used?

That way one part could be used for both years.

One could also cut one or both pins off, then use Automotive 2 sided tape, and install them. IF you went to just about any collision center, I'm sure that (especially if you drove the car there) get the 6 or 8 inches of material needed! Also ask them if you can buy a packet of adhesive promoter. After I painted my Avanti, I installed the "Supercharged" emblems that way. That was almost 5 years ago.
Side mouldings, and emblems have been held on new cars since the 80's! No drilling holes after paint.
