  • What the Difference in 1950 and 1953 Champion Generators?

I have the 1950 Champion generator out of my neighbor's new car and the tag reads GDZ 6001A 2E.
I also have a 1953 Champion generator I bought on ebay and the tag reads............ GGW 4801C 6H.

Both generators look identical in every detail, including pulley diameter and mounts. Does anyone know why they have different tag numbers, or what might be different between them? Thanks, Tom

    Two suggestions -

Compare the generator specifications listed in the corresponding 1950 and 1953 shop manuals.

Compare the part numbers for each component in the Parts Manuals to see exactly what parts are different between the two.

Thanks Avanti. I haven't taken mine apart yet to restore them, but expect to find the armature windings different then when I get them apart.
