My wife suggested that I leave tonight rather than waken her at 0'dark thirty in the morning. I plan to do so within the hour, once I get packed and grab a bite to eat. I hope to make it to Frederick or beyond before calling it a night.

Made it, spent some, sold some already. I bought a set of rain gutter trim, two NOS door chevrons and some red dash bulbs for Caesar. Just a few vendors here so far.

I thought there was a rule against vending prior to the start of the show? The one year I went there were complaints of people showing up early and cherry picking parts on Thursday and leaving before the show opened up for everyone else on Friday.

So like I said, that swap meet that's supposed to run from Friday - Sunday, a person might as well plan on showing up on Thursday and go home Friday morning. The year I went, the place was clearing out of vendors on Saturday afternoon and I'm sure there's absolutely no reason to even plan on being there on Sunday. People on the newsgroup have complained about the low turnout and lack of vendors over the past years... I wonder why that is?

Most of the vendors will be packing up Saturday afternoon, I'll probably be on the road by 2 PM or so. Even if you show up on Sat morning, you'll still have 6 hours or so to buy what you need, but the vendors do pick each other over for the rare stuff by Fri morning, I even found a set of NOS wheel covers for Sid, and Lee D. scored a 63 Lark Super lark dash with a good pad and the red line tach and 160 MPH speedo for his R2 wagon ( not cheap though). BTW, I bought a set of grills for a 55 C-K at a good price (NOS center, replated sides) if it does not sell in the A.M., it'll be available when I get back for a best offer. If you want the really rare stuff, or the occasional bargain, you need to show up Thurs afternoon unfortunately.

If you want to get the rare parts or bargains, you need to show up on Thursday for a Friday - Sunday swap meet. Can I walk in the door on Thursday and start buying parts?

They need to advertise the show Thursday - Saturday, the year I went a couple guys showed up early Sunday morning while we were hooking up the car trailer with my Lark convertible on it wondering where the hell everybody was. Kind of a rude awakening for someone looking for parts only to have to turn around and go home.

I guess there's no need to complain any further, unless the pre-meet selling is stopped, there's little chance for the average Stude guy to get a good bargain unless he's willing to purchase something that's been sold 2-3 times between vendors who are all marking the price up. I'm done, I just won't plan on showing up to Reedsville or York... and if enough people get frustrated and feel the same way, there will be little reason to continue to host a meet that nobody shows up for. I'll be interested to hear how the turnout was this year... both vendor and shopper.
