  • Central Texas Stude Folks???

I just wanted to know if i'm the only one here that's located in central Texas. I live in Hutto which is North and East of Austin by about 20 miles. I'm hoping to get together some folks and maybe go out for a cruise, a bite to eat, or do some wrenching on other Studes etc. The cruise is going to be a couple months though.

    Let me know!

    Thanks,

    Chris Salisbury

I'm a member of the Central Texas Studefolks, but I think I may be the furthest one North, I'm just south of Dallas! Besides my Stude isnt ready for a cruise.. Have fun cruisin in your Stude. Dillocrafter is down in your neck of the woods I think.

There are a host of Stude people in your area, the president of the Central Texas Club lives right by Temple, (he just sold the 38 Bus on ebay) and Mark Franks has a machine shop at Lorena just South of Lorena on the West side of 35, Mark is a fine rebuilder of Stude engines and a really nice guy. Here is the contact info for the Central Texas Club, a nice bunch of guys, I just joined at the Zone Meet.

Thanks for the info! I'll definately check it out. Especially the engine rebuilder.

Randy, maybe when your Stude is road worthy we can all meet up at the Czechstop in West. Best kolaches hands down. [^]

                    Chris,

Person writing this is a born and raised Texas Studebaker fan, but now part of the winter crowd living happy and warm in Pennsylvania. There are a number of Studebaker in your neck of the woods.

The Texas Hill Country chapter does things in the Austin area on occasion. Former president (Ken Barry) lives in Round Rock. Owns a very nice 56 GH and built a '53 convertable with a shortened wheelbase.

Central Texas Chapter will have their annual Christmas party the second Saturday in December in Belton at Mark Brians Studebaker ranch. Will say exact dates in Turning Wheels.

And I think Bo Markham is still up in the Killeen area - pretty amazing selection of parts available.

That will at least get you off to a good start.

And one of the previous individuals is correct, Mark in Lorena is a great person to deal with and has a shop that can do just about anything needed to a Studebaker motor...

                        Chris,

Your location is good for both the Central Texas Chapter and the Texas Hill Country Chapter. The latter is having a Christmas party in Fredericksburg, home town to chapter member Russ Studebaker. Have a look at the posts he has made about the upcoming December meeting & party at the chapter's forum:
