It's fixed. It was the carb again. Rebuilt with a Tebow kit and new floats. Charged up the battery. Now the charging system is putting out 14.2 volts.

Were the floats collapsing under the boost pressure?

Edpjr, your'e lucky it crapped out close to home. My 76 crapped out 2 years ago in Colorado Springs 1100 miles from home. I had to get back for work so the car had to be shipped back home adding expense and a never ending supply of "I told you so!" from my wife, thinking she was a genius for following me out there in her Honda minivan. The culprit, we think, was the power supply for the electric choke being hooked up the the coil. It caused backfiring, missing and a huge loss of power. The backfiring led to replacing wires, plugs, coil, distributor cap and blowing out 4 new mufflers before tracking down the problem. Drove it out to Dover DE and back from Chicago last summer with no problems ( and my wife following in her minvan again). This Thursday we are going to St Louis to participate in the Great American Tour, driving Rte 66 to Santa Monica CA and driving back as well. This time, the wife is riding with.

You just need to let me take that old haunted car off of your hands. I'm sure I can find a priest around here......somewhere!!
