  • 1950 convertible

I know of one in restorable condition that might be available soon. Does anyone know:

Whether cloth seats were one possibility for Studebaker's convertibles that year, or was it only cloth-and-leather or all-leather as some other makers did?

How hard the rear window is to find?

What something like that might be worth, assuming it's about 80% complete and has some rust but is not in terrible shape. (Many of the missing bits don't seem to be convertible-specific, the rear window being one major exception.)

Thanks. It seems pretty cheap, and I'd love to have one, but while restorable, it obviously needs a fair bit of work.

The rear window frame is hard/expensive to find.
There are some around. I will give you a lead if you buy the car. Also, someone was reproducing them.
The "rear window" is just flat glass - no problem, but the frame is the difficult part.

Champion or Commander???? There is a big difference in value between the two!

I thought both models were the same from the cowl back?
At least that's how the closed cars are, and I'd think the same would be true of convertibles.

The body tub is pretty similar, but that's about where the "sameness" stops. Commanders have always held a higher price tag than the more common Champions. Bigger engine, bigger brakes, longer wheelbase on a MUCH heftier frame... The Commanders of that era were simply better built cars.

I'm pretty it's a Champion. Any idea as to a price range?

              Thanks.
