  • 19?? Dictator?

We have discussed this car a few times. I lost track of it, but tracked it down today. I know little about prewar cars, so I've got several questions and observations:

    1936/37? Dictator?

    Observations:

"What you see is what is there." No bumpers, hood side panels.

Headlights in floor board... I can't swear they are correct for the car, but believe them to be.

    Modifications:

    Nova front clip
Motor mounts installed for small block GM... engine block in place to "mock up" the mounts... condition unknown.

    Door handles shaved

    Ford narrowed rear axle, tubbed.

Appears rust free, floor boards solid, except where panels were removed.

What might it be worth, as is? It has changed hands since I last reported on it, and can not be bought at the previous mentioned price.

Purists need not whine about modifications, it is what it is.

Car is a '37 Dictator model 5A. The President looked nearly the same but was an Eight and on a longer wheelbase. A for value no practical way to determine that esp inasmuch as so many modifications have been made.

The Dictator pictured is almost a perfect shape, but with a longer hood to balance the fore/aft mass, it would be perfect. So who is bringing their '37 President coupe to St. Louis for everyone to enjoy?

It would be a good parts donar for a '37 Coupe Express!

I'll bring my '37 President coupe if I can get it finished in time. If I'm doing the math correctly, there are 169 days to finish painting the fenders, mount the body back on the frame, hang the doors, install the fenders and rumble seat lid, install the door glass, get upholstery completely done, install all new wiring, fire it up for the first time since engine rebuild, get any mechanical issues sorted out, and any number of other things I can't remember right now. Hopefully all the chrome that I took to a chrome plater at the Hershey swap meet will be finished sometime this spring.

If the coupe isn't ready, I guess I'll just bring the same-old, same-old coupe-express. Tom

I shall look forward to seeing the coupe. Now get back to work!

Wow, you are close to St. Louis. By my estimation you just gained a day for your project plan. Eliminate the travel day and rent a barge instead and you can work all the way to SL.

What that actually says in my profile is Princeton, Louisiana, not Princeton, Iowa. I guess I put it in lower case letters so the "L" comes off as an "I". It's over 600 miles (still only a one day trip), but no barges between northwest Louisiana and St. Louis. Tom

Yep, Loy, I think the back window of this coupe would look great on your CE!

                    Is that a back window?
I thought someone was towing a bass boat and slammed on the brakes!
