Studebaker Jack Part?

Kerry, Matthew knows that car about as well as anybody. Since he didn't volunteer more information, there might not be any use in me commenting, but...have you removed the spare? The base might be under it. Still, you are missing the tire iron, and the jack shaft. The only other place for the jack shaft, might be between the seat back and the hump that clears the rear axle in the trunk. Might be worth another look. Regardless, at least you have the ratchet mechanism. The things you are missing are often located in boxes placed "under' the table at swap meets. You know...those dirty rusty parts, folks bring, but then decide they're not worth valuable table display space.John Clary

I remember Tom having all of the jack parts scattered around shortly before he passed away. By the time I sold the car for his widow, I didn't know what went with the car and what didn't. That garage was a crowded mess of Stude parts.
As far as what was put in the car or what was left out, that would be entirely on me.. But it's been so long that I can't remember anything too specific.
Sorry I can't be of more help, Kerry! John's comments are good ones.. You need the shaft and the base to "complete" the jack.

thanks, Matthew - i kind of figured that out about Tom - shiny stuff!!!
and thank you, Mr. C. yeah, i took everything out of the trunk and looked everywhere for more jack parts. none to be found.
if anyone is interested in this "part of a jack" let me know. i've got engine & electrical problems to deal with before i look for more "show" parts.
actually, i think this jack part can be fixed for use, but i'd rather not try to use it on the bumper(s)...Kerry. SDC Member #A012596W. ENCSDC member.
