  • Used Avanti Frame Needed

I have a friend who has an early '63 Avant - think it's automatic - that needs a good frame for replacement of a rusted one. Does anyone know one available within a day's drive of Detroit or Buffalo?

    Thanks, in advance!

I think your friend will have to reach out A LOT farther than that, to find what he needs.

Get in touch with Dwayne Jacobsen in Wisconsin. I don't have his info handy, but he has from time to time advertised in Turning Wheels. If you can't come up with his #, let me know and I'll dig it up. I bought a power shift and p/s setup off of a 63, and at that time he had the frame available. That was 4 years ago. He also had several other Avanti's for parts. Best of luck, Bill.

Check with Dan Booth of Nostalgic Motors in Michigan or Jon Myer in Ohio.

It is just a lark 109" frame with out the center "X" your old frame X should be still good to install in a 109" I have one and an extra X but as always in California.

I helped Don Gay in Lowpoint IL. load one up from a auction we were at years ago. His bother and wife are selling his stuff. You may want to check with them.

I agree, a solid 109" Lark frame may be an easier find,....and cutting out & welding in the "X" member has been done many times before!

Might I ask what does he mean by rusted frame? If it's the bottom plate or a combination of bottom plate and a few rusty spots, it might be easier and cheaper to repair what exists than find and buy another one. Several of us have repaired frame damage.

And while we are asking, how are the hog troughs?
