You sure lucked out on that trunk handle because I could have also used that. All my 50 Champ chrome is new or replated except for the trunk handle.
The local high end restoration shop sends his parts out east, to your part of the country, for plating. I can't think of the name of the shop though, nor the twon it's in.

Another Mooresville member...we be catching up! I live in Mooresville as well and haven't had any chrome work done yet, (I do need some though) you might try Chromemasters in Nashville. They chromed some Harley parts for me years ago and did a nice job---pricey!

Great looking car and you did good on the trunk latch. I like the YOM license plate. In NC is that the registered plate for the car?

I like the plate as well. The prior owner sold it with the car so I lucked out. In NC as long as the car is insured and you have a registered plate in the car you can run with a YOM plate on a classic car. I keep a copy of the law in the glove box as I had a run-in with a cop when driving a 55 Buick with a YOM plate ten years back. This could have saved me a trip to the court house and I have no intention of returning for something that is legal in Carolina.

Beautiful Studebaker! good luck with her.
If you get up Philadelphia way, check out Frankfort Plating in Philly. If Tony Lombardi looks in ( forum member) he can hook you up.
They have done great work for me on my Packard, especially those rear door top mouldings made of unobtainium.

That's the place I couldn't remember the name, and that's where the high end restoration shop sends their parts. They do nice work.

SWVALCON, I stopped there about 7 years ago to see their work, and it did look good. As you say, they know how to charge. My neighbor just bought a 1949 Jeepster and we may take some parts there.

Your car looks terrific in the pictures. That $50 you spent on the trunk latch was money well spent. From what I've seen, $50 is a veritable bargain. The rest of your chrome looks good in the photos. So, you don't have to panic and get everything rechromed right away. You really should visit Studebaker specific flea markets at various Stude shows (i.e. the International Meets) or York, PA. You never know when you might find what you're looking for. Best of luck with your Stude.
