  • 1964 GT Hawk 1:25 model

Hi, I am a former Studebaker owner and SDC club member. I owned this. 1964 GT Hawk in the 1990's.

I would like to build a model of it. The only model I found was a resin conversion kit for a '62. The biggest challenge will be the side grille area where the '64 is markedly different from the '62. The other one will be to reproduce the hubcaps.

I am looking for a bit of assistance with this project. Some of it will require access to a parts manual and some of it will involve measurements and sketching. I'll try here first and if there are no takers I'll attempt to locate a '64 owner who would let me measure up and sketch his car.

If you go to the S.D.C. home page, one of the pull downs will have Chapter contact information. Someone in your area is sure to help.

Go for it ! If I can change a 1957 Golden Hawk Die cast to a 1961 Hawk ......... This should be easy .

Where can you buy that 62 Hawk kit?

NEVER MIND, I Googled it! Pretty Kool! Think I'll have to buy one and build a tribute car to my Dad.
          Thanks.

I guess you did not mean to say that you bought a "conversion kit for a '62", because if you did you would be done, easy peasy!

I guess you meant to say you bought the '62 kit, to use with a homemade "conversion kit" to make a '64?

Ref. post #4, how did you change the door post on the '57? I have a '61 and would like to make a replica of it. Also, does anyone make a resin conversion kit for the '53 AMT kit to make a hawk? I know there is a resin body for the '53 c-body, but I've never seen the hawk parts. Seems it would be a relativly easy kit! Jim

The late Sam Miller made a resin '64 Hawk kit. It was slush cast so there is no interior, I suppose if you're very careful the glass can be cut out. I'll have to recheck if it had an interior, the parts were all mixed up with other models.
I waited a long time to get one of these. I remember seeing them at the South Bend spring swap when it was still in Newman Altman's.
I thought they came with '64 wheel covers but this one came with '62-63 style.

Look for S.C. Miller, they sometimes show up on ebay. Or you could look for a Shrock brothers replica in 1:72 scale.

I thought I read about a '60 or '61 hawk resin kit recently. I'll have to check my latest issue of scale auto again. There's been a few resin golden hawk '56 kits around for years. There's a '53 post resin kit out there too.

I guess I wasn't clear. With this kit you are supposed to use the '53 Starliner as a base and this body to get a '62 GT Hawk. I intend to use my Starliner with the '62 kit and modify it to end up with a '64.

Wow, it's a good thing those GT Hawk models are "not in production", whoever did the samples missed it on the too tall fender height and way too Low Roof height.

There is a resin kit of a 1959 Hawk. It was released late last year.
