  • 1950 Commander Goes Home to California, but Who Owns It?

This beautiful low mileage original 50 Stude was in the Mpls. Craigslist about 9 months ago. I went to look at it for $10,000, but thought about it too long and some car flipper bought it and sold it to a guy in Califonia for 12K. It originally came from California and is rust free with about 43k miles. It's all original except for the seat belts and outside paint, which is a perfect match to the original door jam paint. I hope it stays original. Click image for larger version

I was just curious to know if anyone here knows of it's whereabouts?

Wow, I saw it's twin yesterday afternoon on my way home from work. It was sitting in front of Modern Automotive in Tigard, Oregon. I will be curious to learn my about this one myself since it obviously cannot be the one I saw.

You probably saw the '50 Champion that was recently purchased by a new Chapter member. He lives in Sherwood.

That's a really nice car. How common are the stainless parts on the bottom of the seat?
I really like the paint color.

I actually went back 3 times to look at the Stude because it was so beautiful, and to see an original in that condition, I just wanted to be around it. Had it been an overdrive instead of an automatic I probably would have bought it on my first trip. I wasn't sure of the ratio for the automatic, so I went home to think it over. Of course when I went back it was still there, but it was sold. Getting my beautiful restored 50 Champ a month later helped make up for it though. My Champ was also on craigslist and only 5 miles from home.Click image for larger version

Pretty common from what I've seen, Dean. Also used on earlier models (47-49). Usually spares around.
