The rarest of the rare! An east coast car with never any rust.

Wonder if it also got the better '64 frame?

I believe that this car has been discussed before.
It is not a late 1963, it is just a 1963 with modifications.

How is 64 frame better than other years?. I have not heard of this before.

It has the metal dash of the earlier GT's not the wood grain of the mid year and later 63's (radio/glove box side) Also it has the early park light turn signal rim Later versions were fluted like the headlight rims edge

So it is not EVEN a late '63 as advertised, let alone the fact that it did not come with a '64 Grille shell, hood ornament or decklid.

I remember this one, they must have been trying to "hook" someone for awhile.

The frame thickness went to 11 Ga. on Hawks in 1962, I know of no later changes.

Maybe someone should contact the guy and explain to him that he has a 63 with a 64 hood ornament and a 64 trunk. Then tell him to pull the trunk lid find the right one and sell the lid to someone that can use it.

I thought that also, but I thought that car was in California.

I bet the seller is simply unaware of exactly what he has. As for the "incorrect" parts, a person could buy that car and drive it 100,000 miles, and never hear anyone point out the "problems", UNLESS he gets within 25 miles of an SDC function. Then he would find lots of helpful folks telling him he should swap the parts, sell it for scrap, etc..

Joe that's the best thing about our cars you can change about anything you want and most people don't know as they have either never seen one or it was years ago.

Reminds me of some cowboy singing about a 53-54-55-56 Cadillac.

Aren't those 64 decklids pretty hard to find?

Looks like it could use some cosmetics, but all-in-all, a pretty nice looking GT Hawk!

Yes, they are - which equates to a high price. He would net more by selling the deck lid separately and then replacing it with a '62-'63 deck lid (small difference, but look about the same).

In my experience ANY GT deck lid in decent shape is hard to find. I have been looking for many years for a '62-'63 lid that's better than what I have and have yet to find one I can afford. Most I have found are far, far worse than what I have. I even bought a rust free Golden hawk lid with some ugly B/U light holes thinking I could make it work, but I hate to try and make something "work" when I know there must be some good '62-'63 lids out there somewhere.
