  • At Lancaster, you can't miss this

For those of you that like to eat (and who doesn't), you cannot miss this 'attraction'. I believe it it approximately 20 miles from the host hotel. We drive one hour and 20 minutes one way several times a month just to eat there. The PA Dutch cooking is absolutely the best. There is more choice than you could ever imagine. They are open Mon thru Sat, 5AM to 8PM (closed Sunday) for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The place is HUGE. They seat 1200 in the 'regular' area and 1000 in the banquet area. You will not regret a visit. Visit their web site and check it out: www.shady-maple.com

We were there last Mon night for the 'Delmonico Steak and New York Strip Night' (each night is a different feature in addition to all the regular meats/food). I had three Delmonico steaks, in addition to soup, salad, and all the other items, plus dessert (everything is all you can eat). Simply delicious.

PS: When you click on their site, click on Smorgasbord in the left menu area, then click on Daily Menu/Pricing for an idea of their fare. By the way, their gift shop is just as amazing.

I believe that is up Rt. 23 past New Holland. Millers is close to the meet hotel on Rt. 30 and good. I also like the breakfast at the Leola Family Restaurant on Rt. 23.

Many many good places to eat in Lancaster very near the Host Resort and Conference Center. Some within walking distance. For those that are interested, the AOAI Banquest being held on Thursday evening after the Concourse will be held at the Plain & Fancy on PA Route 340. This facility is also owned by Miller's and the planned dinner menu will provide you lots to eat. Check the resgistration form for the cost and come join us. We have room for up to 300 guests and will have a great banquet speaker.

See you in the future as I write about our past

My Mom and Dad loved it at Shady Maple, they spent summers at Warwick Woods Campground in St. Peters, Pa. and visited Shady Maple every chance they got. There is also a big outlet mall area in Reading, Pa.

Chris Chicken Fried Steak can be obtained in lots of places in Lancaster County. There is one particular place within three miles of Meet Central that has an excellant variety of this dish with the proper white gravey.[}]

Once at a convention in Easton, PA, I asked for one at a restaurant just off the town square - the waiter hadn't a clue!
