  • Update: Finally, one back drum off 62 gt hawk

Mechanic just called to say that with 140 foot pounds and propane torch and A hit, the drum is off. He said the brake shoes look like new as does the rubber pieces in the wheel cylinder. Since the front shoes etc. on one side looked like new and the other one had a large portion of one of the shoes GONE, I told him to go ahead and start working on getting the other rear drum off. MAYBE THE LAST GUY ONLY REPLACED ONE SIDE? Next step is to flush the lines and put the new hoses on the front. Hopefully the brakes will be finished then.

Coool. Good idea to do them all. It only takes one to ruin a system.

You are replacing the rear hose too along with the front two ?

Make certain he closely examines the keyway in the rear hubs for any cracks and re-assembles them absolutely clean and dry; no grease, oil or anti-seize.
