Have adjustments to the shift linkage failed to fix it?
Also believe it or not, there is a procedure in the Shop Manual for installing the Neutral/Backup light switch to properly orient the selector position to the switch. You would think it would be a simple job of installing the 2 screws, but it is not.

I did not look it up, but I am assuming that a late Champ with the '61 and up Wheel and column jacket would have the Car Neutral switch under the dash, correct?

UPDATE: Yep it's an ordinary 1552780 like all '61-'66 Larks and '62-'64 Hawks with Automatic.
Hey Joe, why I am I doing this, you have the same Catalogs I do! ???

Pretty cool, that means you could add the Backup Lights that Trucks never had, really easy!

When modifying a '63 car column into an R-1 powered '57 pickup, we had to flip that switch over and what was the backup light portion of the switch is now the PARK start switch... no "neutral start" on this one... darn it. Sometimes ya just gotta do what you gotta do.

The stock switches are easy to take apart, clean, relube, put back together and reuse.
        Very simple switches.
