      Studebaker owners manuals from the mid fifties all had copy similar to this with respect to taking care of 'chromium plated parts'.

          The 1951 Plymouth Cranbrook cnvt. had the poorest chrome of any car I ever owned and it was my 1st new car. I bought new after-market wheel covers, as the originals looked so bad. The dealer suggested it. The grille looked like it had been painted with a transparent material.
