  • Cool 53 Street Rod with "interesting" nose treatment

This may have been discussed before, but I just found it

This looked like a pretty cool interpretation until I saw the front of the car...

    What's up with that?

In my opinion, a fiberglass nose transplant is just what the doctor ordered to make this cool:

Someone mistakenly thought a Chrysler grill was worth more than ten cents a hundred for scrap. They cut the value of this car by at least 60%.

I don't recall this one being discussed. To me, at first look, it looks neatly done. I don't think it is as aesthetically attractive as the original design, and certainly not as aerodynamic. Not knowing the condition of the vehicle, before the project began, (could've been a wreck), I'll not beat up on the builder.

It is a good example of how versatile/desirable these cars are and a testament to the artistic value of the original. Thanks for sharing.

I'd like to see a bit more of chrome/stainless on it. The Chrysler grille isn't all that bad, maybe better if the wings went elsewhere.

I agree that it looks well done, and I wouldn't mind having it. I'd drive it as is!

But I do think that a nose transplant would be on my list!

I'd agree with that in general, but since he painted the bumpers maybe an option would be to have even less chrome.

Especially if it were painted black, little punches of chrome really stand out. I found this a while back, and it really spoke to me.

What an interesting 53. That grille makes it look European, like some 50's Italian car. I hope it belongs to an SDC member, or someone young who want to join the club.

A Lark or Champ grille would be better. The headlight/parking light setup looks like a poor man's XJ6.

It's been awhile, John - but we talked about when it was on eBay once.

                        Yea, been talked over.

I saw this car up close and personal a few years ago.
How do you spell...ugly, nasty. The basic bodywork...the sanding was done with about 60 grit sand paper, the hood, fender, grill modifications..don't really "fit".

It was for sale when I saw it. I figured if I could get it cheap enough it would be as someone mentioned...good for a fiberglass panel swap..! I couldn't, I didn't.
