  • The Indians have taken over my shop

What I mean is an Australian that owns a ton and a half of Indian parts has taken over the floor space of my shop for the past month, Chris from Australia has been over here 3 different times since last Sept and each time he buys more Indian motorcycle parts and has sold some but is now starting to get things packed up for the trip to Australia, any one interested in Indian parts can let me know, one thing for sure they don't come as cheap as Studebaker parts, he has a few bikes also for sale, because he has the floor space so filled I don't get much done in the shop. here is some pictures..any one interested??

I rode an Indian chopper once.A cousin had brought it to a family reunuion, and let me take it down the road. It did not idle well, I had a hard time with it in the yard manuvering it around trees and parked cars. But when I got it on the road, It accelerated hard and fast. When I got it in HI gear, and it leveled out, it was as smooth as silk! Even on a Georgia back road.

A totally different experience than my Vulcan Classic.

I never have been much of a motorcycle fan at all. Our village had a gearhead barbeque last year and there were old cars, motorcycles and a few old tractors. There were BMW, Harley's and Asian bikes there as well as others. There was one Indian. Now I know what the fuss is about. I could not stop looking at it. The other bikes were just noise to the eyes. It was a think of beauty. Just so pure in form - like a 53 Studebaker coupe.
I have no idea on how they run, but appearance wise WOW!!!

Man is that cool. They were so far ahead of Harley in engineering and design.

In my youth I found a '48 Chief in a Barn, yes a true barn find. I totally restored it and started it up in my small yard. I circled the house for a couple of hours as I could not figure how to stop it and just ran it intill it was out of gas. Suicide gas, clutch, everything on the wrong side ,etc. Loved the bike but a chore to drive.

When I was in my early teens an older friend had an Indian and I rode many miles on the back of that bike. Also, I rode it around the orchard and got the rabbits excited. While in HS an older student had a 4 cyl. Indian which had a nice rumble.

We hope to get up to Springfield, MA and visit the Indian section of the Springfield Museum. There is also a section devoted to the Rolls-Royce, as they were made in Springfield for a few years. There has been several efforts to revive the Indian...reminds me of aa certain auto! Hope it happens again for both.
