Isn't the hole in the Lark dash bigger than the hole in the Hawk dash? If so, is the Lark bracket wide enough to span the bigger hole and make contract with the back of the dash in order to hold the tach and bezel in place? Maybe they're the same width, I don't know but they have different part numbers in the parts book. Thanks for any info on this!
I would suspect a generic similar vintage Stewart-Warner tach which has the same diameter face as the Lark will work, as they were the supplier of these tachs.

        OldJoe,

The needle comes straight off,.... but before you discount the Lark tach's continunity, test continunity of the coil between the two springs where they mount to the insulating pad.

If the wiring to the coil is bad it would have to be re-wound. There are all kinds of things you can fix on these tach's, you can replace the resistor if that is the problem, just check the colour code for a 4 band resistor. My tach has: Gold-Purple-Black-Gold = 47 ohms (+ or -) 5% isolate and check across the leads of the resistor.

So if all else fails and you are taking off the needle hold the coil from swinging on the iron core, then spin-turn back and forth the needle as you gently apply pull pressure to take it off. It is a pressure fit. Mine spun right off.

Thank you Allen, the needle came right off. I did check for continuity through the coil and didn't get anything.
