Andres, one of the most overlooked things by machine shops is the pipe plug found just below the distributor opening.

DITTO, DITTO, DITTO!
If your shop is not familiar with the Studebaker V-8, they may have not removed that plug prior to cooking the block, or not replaced it if they did!
