Uh-oh, John; I just thought: Is this going to rule out your attending York?

'Can't imagine your being there, but hopefully the kids and Betty will be able to carry on. BP

Get well soon Jon. Hopefully you can stay put long enough to recover.

I've heard Mike and Linda will be going, bringing customers parts, and looking after the Myer's table with Betty

Yes, Jon, all the best in your recovery! Just don't get 'back at it' too soon, and let your body take its time to heal properly!!

Jon, so sorry to hear about the fall and the broken hip. One suggestion from a guy that had double knee replacement in October-- Do everything your therapist tells you, even if it hurts like blazes. I did and am progressing well--others didn't and aren't. Prayers to the whole family, I will miss you at York, but Betty and Mike and Linda can handle the business--you just get well! Gordon Kertzel

It couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. So sorry it had to happen. Many of us face similar hazards on the ice. Think of the replacement as good for another 30 years. Be careful, follow the advice of your physical therapist, do the exercises, and you'll be as good as ever after six months.

does anyone have an update? i would think the surgery would have occurred by now.

i've had two hip replacements on the same side - the first in 1988 and the second in 2003. the '03 model was much better as far as range of motion! i'm sure the new '14 models are even better!!!

and as already stated, do keep all the follow-up physical therapy appointments...

I received an email from Betty this morning. "Jon had his hip replaced, and "they" were going to get him up today".
I do know that when I had some surgery a few years ago, the Doc's biggest thing was getting me out of bed! It's supposed to be much better for you instead of laying in bed. Either way, Jon will have some Physical Therapy and possibly Occupational therapy in his future. I'm sure that Jon will make a full recovery. Maybe he needs to get a supercharger added to that new hip! Just to get him moving faster! <G>

Hope Jon has a speedy recovery.

Very sorry to hear of this, we wish you a speedy recovery. This would not have happened in your old neighborhood in California.

I said the same thing in post 15. Jon lived on Bledsoe Avenue in Culver City, BS sessions occurred on Saturdays with SDC (and SOCA) members dropping by.

Besides myself (back then, I lived in West LA), another frequent visitor was Dan Skidmore, who lived a few miles away.
