I'd like to get one (the right model, of course) for my GT. Unfortunately, I think that the shipping cost to France would be prohibitive.

Try listing on Unofficial Studebaker Drivers Club Page site? It has a swap meet section with many swap/buy/wanted ads from all over. I would like to have 3spd/od or 4spd set up for my 61hawk 289/auto..Don't know what best fits my "future" application. (Mr. STUDE RICH ARE YOU OUT THERE??) Would also need full clutch pedal linkage which looks like a pretty expensive project to get into at this time, for me.Suggest you hang onto what you have if not sold. Someone may need it later.Last edited by arthurc1946; 02-10-2014, 04:36 AM.

I have never attempted to ship anything off-shore. However, in our lifetime...containerized shipping has revolutionized the entire process. It is my impression, from the forum, that candbstudebakers (Bob Peterson) probably has more experience and knowledge about it than the rest of us. If he sees this post, perhaps he could enlighten and educate us.Originally posted by christophe View PostI'd like to get one (the right model, of course) for my GT. However, that said, if you really want an OD transmission for your Hawk, I wonder if you could find a way to get one added to someone's container shipment that has room or needs to add items to meet minimum weight (if there is a "minimum" required)? Like I said, I know nothing about the process, but it is worth investigating rather than assuming it is cost prohibitive. I'd rather see a part leave the country rather than be scrapped. Besides, I like the idea that our club is "international," and the happier our international members are...the better.

I share your opinions John. Add my parts to an existing shipment was my idea too. In fact, I'd like to import a car, but this is too much a hassle in France to make it streetlegal afterwards. If I can find a complete and functionning setup that fits my car, I'll investigate further for costs and the way to proceed.Originally posted by jclary View PostHowever, that said, if you really want an OD transmission for your Hawk, I wonder if you could find a way to get one added to someone's container shipment that has room or needs to add items to meet minimum weight (if there is a "minimum" required)? Thanks guys for the info and links! I don't have the space for extra parts, that I have no use for. I would rather sell it and re-invest the funds in my '54, every dollar helps. I hate to scrap parts that some people would love to have, I just moved back to Washington state and promised my wife that are backyard and garage would not look like are previous house. I have body parts, project cars, engines etc that once filled the backyard, garage etc and when its 110-115 degrees outside I also wished I didnt have parts in the garage so I could park in the shade.
Dwain G- yes, Mark is my Dad...why?
DEEPNHOCK-not cleaning the crud..I have a frame and many other parts to scrape, wire wheel, and sandblast the new owner can take care of that ! lolLast edited by S10V8.98223; 02-10-2014, 03:29 PM.

Not knowing where you are in Washington, but I plan to pass through on the way to the Portland Swap meet in April. I'd give $100 for the pair of T-96 transmissions as cores. I have a few already, but overdrive parts are overdrive parts, and will also work in the T-86's.Gord Richmond, within Weasel range of the Alberta Badlands

Micah,
I've known your dad for well over thirty five years and I think that I remember you when your folks lived in Federal Way. Ray Keehner adapts these transmissions for use in twenties and thirties era Studies. He lives in the Bothell area and is in the ASC roster 425-483-0409, the worst that he can say is no.
Did you get your 54 from your dad, just wondering if it was one I used to own. I got quite a few of cars that your dad from your dad more then thirty years ago, it would be interesting to know if one survived going the other way.-Bill

Bill...Sorry I didn't see your reply. If you remember me from the house in Federal Way I would have been in Kindegarten, my Dad had a backyard full of 53-55's and some Speedsters etc. I bet that I am one of few on this forum who have as a child beat on a Speedster with a hammer, jumped up and down on the roof and did whatever damage a 6 year old could lol.
I did get my '54 from my Dad but he acquired "mine" within the last couple years, and then passed it down to me... after he found a cleaner one to build, now he has two really clean rust free cars that make me quite jealous lol, but I love my car. It being a bucket list car, and then coming from my father makes it that much more special to me. It would have been pretty cool of it was one you sold him 30 years ago, but then you might want it back lol. My bucket list car, a gift from my father = I will probably be buried in it
I will get in touch with Ray and see if he would like a donation for his conversions, Thanks !!!Last edited by S10V8.98223; 03-01-2014, 11:24 AM.
