50 years ago today the last hawks and Avanti's rolled off the studebaker line. And production was shut down in south bend. A sad day indeed.

What do you base this statement on? AFAIK, metal bodied car production ended then, but Avanti and truck production did not end then. The last Studebaker Avantis have a production date of December 26.
