  • Eye candy request: '56 Stude with '63 Lark front end.

It was a '56 or '57 Stude 2 dr. sedan with '63 Lark dog house installed on it. All done up nice. I saw this car driving around South Bend during the SDC International meet in 1988. Never saw it, or another like it since. It definitely got a double take from me. I remember it but want the eye candy. I just googled longer than I care to mention. Anyone?

I believe that would be difficult to do. The cowl for the sedans changed with the 1961 models.
At a SB Int'l., about that time, I remember (IIRC) a 1958 sedan with a 1953 "dog house", not so difficult to do.

My '62 has doors that would fit on a '57...perhaps the front clip in question was a '62 (the front fascia being identical except for grille insert and parking/signal light colour between the two years)? Either way, I'd like to see this car too. Reminds me of the '55 with a '57 front clip that was in TW a few years ago. (Around here about 20 years back there was a bizarre Plymouth that was, I think, a '61, but with a late 1970s Fury nose grafted on! No idea why; never met the owner. The car's long gone now.)

Hm. A "mutt bodywork" photo thread...??

That sounds good to Me! And I'd also like to see a photo of that '57 two-door.

This reminds me of a question I've had. Will a single headlight 59-60 Lark front panel interchange on a dual headlight 61 Lark?? Always liked the early single headlight front ends better. The 61 single headlight, not as much.

It would probably bolt up to the fenders but the contour of the hood is much flatter on the 61 so it wouldn't work in that area. You could splice the grille intakes from a 59-60 front end panel onto the 61 with a lot of work if that was your goal using the headlamp opening as a guide.

Exactly what it was. The only modifications needed for the doghouse is the mounting area of the core support to the frame.
