  • New guy here

Hello, all! I actually joined this forum to try and get information on where to get more info on my stude and what to do to sell it.
Heres the deal: several years ago, my grandfather gave me a 1950 pickup. It needs work, but the engine does run smoothly. Anyway, it has a faded logo on the doors with a cowboy on a horse thats rearing up and the slogan is "rarin' to go". As it turns out, its the logo for The Frontier Oil Company. I havent been able to find info or pictures anywhere on the internet of a stude pickup with this logo. I cant even find a truck in similar condition to get a feel for pricing.
I think this truck is really cool and it would be a great resto project, but i am severely underpaid and i dont have the room for this project. I would rather sell it to someone who. An appreciate it instead of letting it rust to the ground. Thanks for your help!

      Hey, Brian -

Send me a PM through this Forum.
I am the newsletter editor for the Hutch area, and will run an ad for you when I publish at the end of the month.
Pics would be good, a description, and your price.

      Later!

Just a thought but how about fixing it up enough to drive it and then you might not want to sell it. A resto can be done anytime in the future if you come into the funds but at least for now you'll have a cool truck to use on weekends. Oh and welcome.

Luckily, mechanically maintaining an old Stude truck costs peanuts! It's not necessary for old trucks to be show winners. In fact, swarthy old trucks that are kept safe and functional are going to elicit greater appreciation from the public at large than the limited audience that views a restoration that is afraid of being driven. With our help, you can put it back on the road for cheap! Or even...peanuts!

Wash the crap out of it, then wax heavily...... the heavy wax will help stop the rust..... For now, it's a fairly temporary solution for the time being.
clean out the cab corners and door bottoms too....
Body rust is your worst enemy.

                    Got any pictures to post?

The 50's are great cars and trucks to rebuild. I would be interested in re-building your truck. My current project is a 1950 Studebaker, 4 door, Champion about 80% done. She needs a 1950's brother in the drive. I PM'ed you give me a call if interested. I don't sell the parts. Rick

In that case, IMO the best thing for you to do is to put it on eBay with a good description and pictures. Start the bid very low ($500) and put a reserve on it that you could live with. The market will determine the final price. Sometimes you even get two bidders in a bidding war and end up with more than you might expect.
