I woke up early, too, but on Saturday and drove a couple of hours to hook up with the Ontario chapter as they met at the Norwood fall fair. Good turn out of Studes and lots of friendly and familiar faces. Not a cloud in the sky. Car ran great. Still can't upload pics, so I'm hoping someone else is able to. Car gets oiled for the winter on Friday, then some Stabil and pull the battery. I'm gonna miss her for a few months.

What do you mean by oiled, if you don't mind?Originally posted by warrlaw1 View PostI woke up early, too, but on Saturday and drove a couple of hours to hook up with the Ontario chapter as they met at the Norwood fall fair. Wouldn't ONE coat of that Waxy stuff take care of it for many years, especially if it is not driven in Winter?
Maybe it is the same or similar to what GM uses on their Truck Frames.
I sounds as though you do this EVERY Winter!

The first time you take your car in they are very thorough, drill, spray, cap, etc. Every following year they look for any areas that need extra help. I've used them for about ten years on all vehicles and I haven't had rust issues like some neighbours. On the Stude, I also have the inner fender kits and still get it sprayed. Slows down my 1/4 mile times, I guess, but it's on the road and pretty much rust-free. Cheers.Dave Warren (Perry Mason by day, Perry Como by night)

Hi Junior
Glad to hear that you too enjoyed a Canadian Thanksgiving drive.
I also got up before sunrise, moved a 289 Stude motor out of the way in the barn so I could get my 46 Stude shop truck out for a run.
Headed for the gas station (filled it up!) then met with a few of our car club members for breakfast before heading south to Osoyoos to the drag strip for our annual club grudge match racing with the Kelowna Kustoms, Okanagan Rodtigues, and the Coachmasters. Durting time trials I slipped out to head across the border to pick up some eBay purchases and have a seasonal pumpkin beer. Then back to the drag strip for the eliminations. Time was moving on, so I aimed the Stude to the North and headed up the valley. Got home just in time to catch the end of the Seahawks game before heading to our daughters for Thanksgiving dinner (19 family members sat down to Turkey & Ham). Enjoyed some great red wine wile I watched the Remax balloon lifting over the mountains as the sun set over the Okanagan valley.
Just another great Studebaker Day!

Hey Brian, nice to see you posting again. Hope your summer was as good as mine...regarding your coupe, made any progress with the rack and pinion install?..or is Sandi's car still job one? thanks, junior.Originally posted by woodysrods View PostHi Junior

Working on Sandi's car pretty steady over the past month.
Installed air conditioning (that she didn't originally want until she experienced it her new Santa Fe on our trip this summer), installed rear quarters for final time, mounted fins (welded on!...quarters too!), finished mounting the hood yesterday (reverse opening....latches and stops work great!), doors have been fitted and rear view mirrors are next before we start pulling off the front sheet metal for final primer and paint.
Motor is almost completely assembled (machine shop lost my R2 ground camshaft).
Ready to tackle the rack & pinion on Sandi's car next.
Once the front sheet metal is off, I will set the motor in the hole and set up the R&P while the body is still on the chassis so that I can finish the steering column we have started on (stock column cut off and solid mounted). Want to make sure of all of my clearances??
Thinking of posting pictures of her build to date. Not much time for that sort of thing since I retired.
Good Roads
Brian

I remember putting my cars up for winter when I lived in Chicago.. Here we do a lot less driving in summer and really don't like the garage in 110*+.. Winter here is 7 months of perfect so getting ready for that..
I do miss my old heated garage working on my cars..but now I am a sissy and even heat my winter nights in the garage here in Tucson...
Enjoy the winter layup..sort of miss it sometimes..
But only sometime..
