I have 2 radios both have same part number s4627 made by philco for Studebaker one is just radio with 9 control knobs the other is a radio with record player unit both in unrestored condition don't know if they work or voltage, wanting to know year and type of car their out of possible value and if any one interested in them..thanks barry martin bpm62@yahoo.com

Philco used part number of which the first two digest were the year that they were designed.
A 4627 radio is for the 1947 Models.
No record players were available.
In 1947 only the large records were available.

Philco certainly did make home radios and record players. I wonder if they had some sort of cross-promotion going on in '47 to sell a home radio/record player along with the car radio in a new Studebaker? Cars of all kinds were selling like hotcakes, of course, and maybe somebody dreamed up a way to sell more car radios, which were still an expensive luxury at the time. It would very easy to make a "Philco for Studebaker" decal for the home radio, even at the dealership level.Gord Richmond, within Weasel range of the Alberta Badlands
