NOS Stude Oil Filter Cartridge

Given to me by a friend last night in its original box. Both the box and the cartridge have "Studebaker Automotive Sales Corporation, South Bend, Ind., Made in Canada" printed on them. Anyone have any info?


Also, met a Colorado man about 10 days ago in Flagstaff, AZ, who said he had verified that his GT Hawk was the last one made in South Bend.

That must be the '64 GT that the original owner special ordered with a 3 spd O/D trans and a 3.07 rear end ratio!

If you give us the Studebaker Part Number from the box or the filter case we probably can I.D. it as for a 194, 230 or 283 GM Engine or a Stude. full flow or partial flow Filter.

It probably was made/printed after the South Bend Factory closed, by SASCO of Canada LTD.

The AC-3300 is for the '58 to early '62's with the Partial Flow Engine, but as SN-60 says he would not use it, but actually if the Neoprene Gasket is still soft and supple it would work fine, but better as a show piece if you never start the engine at car Shows after swapping it for a Current Filter.

One correction, there never was a company called SASCO of Canada LTD. Studebaker in Canada was known as Studebaker of Canada, Limited.

I have used quite a few N.O.S. spin on oil filters on Studes without any issues. It just depends on how well they have been boxed or stored. Some are fine, some are best used for display only.
