Over the past 6 months or so I have offered a rust free body of a 62 GT with no takers, well last week a restoration shop 100 miles away called looking for some sheet metal in the trunk area and also a couple of front fender along with a rear pass fender, I told him I had every thing he needed but would need to cut the rear section of the GT and would sell it to him for the price I wanted for the whole body and would deliver it, so today was that day here yesterday gone today.

Great post Bob. Sadly, there are times when one must be sacrificed to save several others. I would have liked to have the trunk area as well, but could not justify the time nor the expense at the moment. Too many irons in the fire so to speak. Sounds like the GT is spending its end days in a great service to others. A finer way to go then to be rusting into the ground as so many do while the owner says: "I'm going to restore it someday."

No I still have both of them , they are 63 full cars, they are next in line and days could be numbered.

Dick in some cases your right but this case the car is a 60 hawk with lots of family back ground ( you know the kind) and in this case the owner has lots of money to fix a very bad car back the way he wants it, 6 months ago I delivered a good frame to the shop, by the way the shop is a very high dollar shop in Sea Side, Ca. I will post a picture or two of some of the cars sitting there right now. today the frame was all done and has new rack and pinion set up and is getting a Ford engine and trans, the car came from New York some time back and had been wrecked in the front end so along with more rust than one wants there was still damage there when every thing was taken apart, under the pass fin the fender was long gone and very thick bondo in the front damaged fenders, it is going to be a $100,000.00 driver for the guy....take a look.

....I remember when I lived in Texas.....GT Hawks were being cut up just for junk......seems there are too many dry cars in some parts of the country....

Yes-I remember when we were in Denton,TX. a few years back a guy was cutting up a rust-free GT for parts. Boy could I use that now as I start work on my '64 GT. It's been off the road since 1989. Lots to be done.

That's tough for this CASO to comprehend. , but I'm happy for the owner and for the shop that gets to put together cars like you pictured. I'm sure they are both having tons of fun!
