  • Doris Day / Jack Lemon Movie Question

Saw a movie clip on TCM last night picturing Doris Day and Jack Lemon sitting in Studebaker convertible surrounded by fifty or so other folks.
Missed the name of that movie, I think they were playing a married couple.
Does any one know the name of that movie and about what year the Studebaker is?
Looked to be about a 1947-50 or so judging from the steering wheel and door handles?

It's mentioned here everytime it's shown on TCM... It's got something for everyone...a Studebaker, a (then new) helicopter, old train....and Ms. Day.

Great, hadn't seen that movie before.
Drives my wife crazy, every time I see a Studebaker or Packard I say "Look! There's a Studebaker!

Yeh, my wife just rolls her eyes. She left the room the night we watched "Gattica". There must have been 20 Avantis in that movie and I kept pointing them out every time one came on the screen.

It's a Studebaker thing. Every time there's a Studebaker in a film or on television, I shout out "there's a Stude." My wife rolls her eyes and my sons say, "there he goes again." All with good humor.

My wife even points them out now on TV. She's usually right.

I bumped into that movie by accident while flipping channels and watched the rest. The Studebaker is a 51 as Gary said. I also noted that it is a Champion (look at the dash) and it is a stick shift (Jack Lemon is shifting as he drives away). Several nice cars in that movie that are not the typical street scene stuff.
You may also notice that the steam engine behind the speakers in the last of the movie is not the same one in the action shots. The last one has some big dents showing under the nice black paint.
