I bought a Champ at the IM in Colorado Springs. The seller brought it back to central Missouri, and Peg Trucking arranged to get it hauled to me in Georgia. The cost was $600.00. Bob Andrews was right about the distance. I could not have driven out to get it at anywhere near that price.
I am beginning to hurt for space. My tractor is setting outside because it gave up its dry space for the new truck. Your Stude is still in the dry. I just don't have the heart to leave it outside after getting the new seats, etc. installed just a couple of weeks before it was wrecked.
I'll be happy to lend my car trailer to anyone who has an adequate towing vehicle and wants to do the 1949 Studebaker deal.

another "thumbs up" for Peg's Trucking!. i'd call instead of going for an online estimate, and mention you heard about her on this forum (she occasionally posts here).

I was very happy with Peg. At first, I asked about rates from Colorado Springs to Blairsville, Georgia. She gave me a rate of $1,100.00, or $900.00 if I could pick it up in Chattanooga, TN. The sellers, Dan and Molly Aust, graciously offered to take the truck back to Columbia, MO. (Someone said they had seen the truck around Columbia.) Peg recalculated and it cost me $600.00 to get the truck delivered to the end of my driveway. What was really neat was Benny Tanner, the actual hauler, called and kept me informed as to where he was, what the weather was like, etc. Great experience!

I paid $750 for mine to be transported, and the brokers did their parts as expected. Some people aren't very up on pricing and said that I shouldn't pay more than $500, but in the summer on popular routes, the transporters become very busy and can name their prices. I had my bid set for $700 and no one accepted, then raised it $50 and it was accepted within 1.5hrs of that bid increase. The broker Seth couldn't understand why my car hadn't moved in 6 days, so he recommended that I sweeten the deal with the price increase. I don't think that he was at all dishonest, but I do believe that there are many new brokers out there whom are.

I also know my car didn't run, which raised the price by about a hundred.
