Yes that is correct, a few of the differences between the 2 (all rather minor) are:

          (1) The extra Moulding on the lower portion of the rear quarter panel Moulding was added to Daytonas with the "Daytona" gold script, this is the only exterior difference.

          (2) The Major difference, Bucket Seats and a Console, this was to imitate the Chev. Impala SS and the Ford Galaxie 500XL

          (3) The simulated Walnut faced dash Panel. Both Regals and Daytonas had the Black faced Speedometer and Gauges, unlike the Deluxe Sedans/Wagons with White faced ones.

1962 was the only year that Convertibles came in 2 Trim levels, the same trim levels were applied to the Hardtops also in '62.

ID:	1682534Okay so it's a Lark Regal? My ol' man always told me it was a Daytona probably because it looks just like the pace car from 62''. Whatever, I don't care what it is. It was my g-pa's car and it'll never be for sale. I'm gonna rock it until the wheels fall off...and then give it to my grandson one day

Cruiser gauge color would be the same as the Regal.

Factory photo (I guess) off E-pay...

That sounds good. As I mentioned earlier, the Regal might actually be more rare than the Daytona - so you will see far fewer. I have a 1/2 truck my Uncle restored that I am treating the same way.

Ah, 289 with overdrive 3 speed! Because of gear ratios available, many people find that the 3 sp OD is 'slightly better' for modern driving than the two different versions of the Studebaker 4 speeds were. Although the 4 speeds are fun, generally speaking the 3 & OD had the engine running a bit slower at highway speed, so cooler/quieter and in modern times also uses less gas. Whatever model Regal or Daytona, a 62 convertible is pretty sharp!

This hack named Joe Mirchell from Oklahoma tried to steal this car from my g-pa. Stole the original motor and trans out of it. He's a country music singer, (He's terrible!) and used this car without our permission for his cd cover. My old man had to go down to Oklahoma and save it. So if you know this scum bag tell him; "Nice try" and that I hope to run into him at car show one day

Idk where he got it or exactly when. I was born in 1979 and it was around then. I got it back to Jersey 2 weeks ago and the throw out barring when on it the first time I drove it. I fixed it last night and while working on it. I found another number plate one the firewall - "62 vb0359" but there's a chrome one on the drivers side door frame that says "62 V0450" ? Does anyone know anything about this? Also...how do you upload pix? I'll be on later...
I think that you need to recheck the numbers on the ID plates, if they are original to the car.
The body number (on the cowl) for a 1962 Regal V8 convertible should be 62V-L6 plus a body build number under that.
The Serial Number for a South Bend built 1962 V8 should be 62V- followed by a four or five digit number (the numbers started with 1001.
