  • Award Winning Avanti II

I took my 66 Avanti II to our yearly car show in my home town. It's a pretty large show, maybe 300 vehicles. I entered my car into the special interest catagory. My Avanti is a fairly nice car, a driver with new paint, wheels, tires, exhaust, but the interior is slightly worn. Didn't expect much but when all was said and done I got a FIRST PLACE trophy. OK, now for the secret to my success. My car was the only one in its catagory. Even with that it was a great day also mine was the only Studebaker type car at the show except for a 52 6-cylinder project car for sale in the swap meet. This is the first thing I've ever won so thanks for listening,

Congrats, Darryl. I've been to that show many times in the distant past. Was always a good show then, I just haven't been in probably the last 5 or 6 years. They always had quite a few parts vendors as well as arts and crafts. It's hard to make all of the shows that go on now. I'll try next year. Sorry you didn't make it to Hiawassee, it was a good show, aprox. 50-55 cars and trucks, and 9 or 10 vendors. We were pleased. Again, congrats. on the first place.
