getting mixed up on how to edit this title, regardless, bumping this with the latest (and last from me) info
    on this car. cheers, Junior.

Here is the last email message I got from the seller:

"The car is still available. We took the ad off because its been on for a bit.
I also emailed the Studebaker club and let them know about the car. No one had gotten back.to me so I didn't think any one was interested. "

Once again, according to the seller (who is a scrap dealer) the car will be crushed next week, so if any forum members think there is any value in saving this car, or any of the parts, ya better get on it. If anyone buys it and wants to sell me the cool air cleaner, let me know, I'd like to own it (For a CASO) price. Cheers Junior.

That is pretty good of the guy to at least see some value in parts on the car and offer it to the "studebaker" people before letting it get crushed ..
Hope someone will at least go and strip it of the good parts ..
I have a daytona sedan with a 289 v8 that Im wanting to sell and its sitting in Calgary ..

I received an email from the owner and now have his phone number. I will talk to him later tonight to see what we really have with this sad Lark. I will ask what the serial number is, find out whether it is a Canadian or South Bend car and ask a few questions about that engine. I hope he can answer them over the phone.

I am at work right now, near Edson, Alberta. I could spin by the place on my way home, no sooner. If I knew where it was. And if it IS an R1 Daytona hardtop, I'd snag it for $400, regardless of condition.

Looking for an R 1 intake manifold (one without the slots between the four holes).

That motors worth an easy 400 alone, if it's a powershift car than that stuff even without the tranny is worth alot. Why doesn't stuff like this come up in sioux city ever...... oh well

See if the guy will take another heavier old clunker in as trade for the Stude, If he is a scrapper whats the difference what the forktruck dumps in the crusher.

This particular engine has been exposed to the elements for a long time, the intake manifold has been taken off, who knows what shape the crank is in or whether this is even a 289. A ton can happen and changes made in 45 years. As for the engine its been exposed to water, drifts of snow who knows what the oil pan is even like, could be 1/2 full of water. My freind Curtis has talked with the wife and rumor has it that the guy wants $800 for the junker with not a good panel left on the car. Deck lid smashed B pillers plowed in, 4-speed tranny is gone,(like some Chevy/Ford moron is going to bolt that up to his SBC or 289? 4 speed shifter is stock, remains but most like worn out totally . Curtis told me today that he has never seen this car around Alberta so it news to him. I think the owner is overly optimistic on the worth of this car but maybe he will let it go for parts.

Spoke to the wife again a few minutes ago, husband is not home yet. She tell me, he is too busy to check on some parts on this car but expects someone to drive into the middle of no where to look a this pile of scrap. I don't know if he is really interested in helping out and really only wants someone to come up there and look at the scrap pile and give him a $800 price.

Gord, Opal is north of Redwater. I will continue to try and find out if it is a R-series car. That is really the only hope for this car with trashed body. Curtis will go and get if it turns out to be a R-series car, otherwise he is not interested. It's a long drive for you and probably not worth it for the few parts that may come of it along with the expense of getting it.

I will let you know what is up with it either way,

$800 is a mite salty. $400 would be OK, if the engine was at least potentially salvageable, and there was some good chrome. I could use good chrome vent window frames for a '64 HT. Rechroming my bad ones would cover most of that $400.

If I swing by on the way home from the rig, it wouldn't be a bad deal for me, at least to view it.

Gord, inflation is crazy on the may long weekend. I was quoted $400 on sat. and now it's doubled??? here is the first reply from the kijiji lister:

"We have no history. We r a scrap yard. We picked the car up with a bunch of scrap which we paid $700 for. We would accept 400 for the whole car there is no transmission I hate to crush classics. 400 is what its worth for scrap pls come and save it. It goes in the crusher next week.

fwiw, if you do nab this car, there's a cool retro air cleaner, (non-stude) that I'd love to get my hands on. Also, the photos in the ad clearly showed that the engine had a cast iron intake with what appeared to be a carter afb carb on it. Thanks, Junior.
