  • 1950 champ fender VS 1951 commander fender

Can anyone tell me what is different between 1950 champion front fender VS the front fender of a 1951 Commander?

I believe the Commander is longer (at least I seem to recall it was in 1950 to accomodate the additional length of the larger engine) and thus would not work.

The 50 Champion and 51 Commander had a different wheelbase, so the wheels won't be right in the wheel well.

I am positive that the 50 Commander fender is longer than the 50 Champ. Also, since I drove a 51 Commander for many years when I was verrrrry young, the 51 Commander and 51 Champ fenders were the same. Therefore the 50 Champ should work. I do not know if there were different body attachments to the inner fender etc. on the 51 vs the 50. I looked up both brochures and the fender has the same overhang etc., whereas the 50 has much more sheet metal in front of the tire.
The V-8 was a lot more compact than the old Commander six used in the fifty.

I did not look up the wheelbase so I stand corrected. Thanks Leonard

The net is that they look similar, but you can not interchange them.

50 Commander & Champion fenders are totally different and both are different from '51 fenders. The only thing you can use on a '51 fender from a '50 fender ('50 Champion at that) is the HL bezel. The bezel of the '50 Commander only fit's '50 Commanders.
'51 Champion and Commander front fenders are the same.

The inter fender is the problem.
