  • Paul Johnson, do you know this car?

This '41 Commander showed up in Martinsburg, WV, do you know anything about it?

No, I have never seen or heard of the car, nor have I heard of the seller. It looks like he may be a Ford guy that somehow snagged the Commander. If anyone is interested, I can check it out pretty easily.

That car looks like one of those that with a little buffing and a weekend or two of detailing would look great!

I initially thought that that was a car belonging to a guy named Studebaker (really!) in Burke, VA but it is not the same car... just looks the same from the outside. Odd.

Since I posted earlier Ron Butts (lurker, but not registered) who lives in Martinsburg called me about this car. He knows the complete history and has known the car since he was a child.
It was bought new by a man in Martinsburg. He drove the car a short distance to work every day and maintained the car meticulously for many years. When he died, the current owner bought it at his estate sale. This owner, a very old man, has had the car in his barn for a number of years. Ron says the car is unbelievably solid. It may need some soft items due to the barn residency, but should be easy to bring back. He even thinks the mileage may be actual. If anyone wants to hear more about the car, email Ron at blackhawk259@earthlink.net and he will send you his phone number
