Thinking about selling 1963 in process

Bob, why not simply put the car together as it sits, fisheyes and all, and put it on eBay. I know fisheyed paint isn't going to cut it at a concours, but it might not matter for a driver.

Put it on eBay, making it clear that the paint is faulty, but new. Maybe somebody who has a paint shop will se an opportunity. The kind of person who will bid on a complete car, but ignore a "basket case."

This would make a great entry-level car for some young person who wants to become a Studebaker owner.

Right. Fisheye is caused by an impure surface, just about always wax. Do as Mike said, and in the future, have a little bottle of "fisheye remover" available... first sign of any fisheye, you just mix in a couple drops- works incredibly well!!

You may get "upside-down" in this car; but to me, the process of learning about the car, knowing for yourself what really has been done to it, and the satisfaction of knowing that you've saved it for future generations is worth quite a lot... put that together with the good service it will give you in real-world use, and it adds up to a great deal for you!![^]

Do what you feel you have to, but if we can do anything to get you to finish her up, we're here!!!!

Like JDP says selling an unfinished car is difficult. I've advertised my 63 Lark Regal 2 door for $3800 with a ton of NOS parts including interior and door panels, a rebuilt T10 with zero miles, 4 speed goodies and a great running 259 4bbl and nary a call.

From my (overseas) perspective it's important that any car be driveable so it can be loaded on and off a truck for shipment. I recently inquired as to shipping costs and was quoted AUD$3600 Long Beach to Newcastle (East Coast Australia). I may be in a position to purchase a car in about a year allowing me to clear debts and save some money. Even something unfinished but with the body and paint done that's OK, we can do the rest here.

Hope your car sells quickly.

The body & paint work is the hardest, most time consuming part of a rebuild. After the paint work is finished, it's all down hill with the reinstallation of stuff and much easier to see the end.

Fix the fisheyes and I think you'll have a far better perspective on where you're at.

Thanks for all the kind words guys.. Yes, I'd like to see the ol girl rollin again too.. Its nice to know all the help is out there. I've had some career upheaval and the car is on the back burner for a while. The paint job on her now is a 20 footer.. you get close and lots or runs, fisheyes etc. I may need to find a place ot hide a parts car so she can get done. The costs are a bit beyond me at the moment. I wanted to test the water a bit to figure out what to do.
