R3 intake manifold

I am looking for a nos or good used original r3 intake manifold. I know there are some out there, as i just got a call from a friend today who just bought one. I do not want the lionel stone repops, as this is for a museum type engine, a one of a kind.

I bought this Manifold a year ago and I paid a lot of money for it.I didn't hesitate buying it because of it's rarity.I offered it for sale for $1,000.00,which gives me a little profit on it.The price of it is is a small percentage of the total worth of the R-3 engine it would go on.If it was my engine I would have gone for it in a heartbeat,because it is the missing piece to the puzzle.But that's just what I would do!

I think instead of "out of line", I would say out of some of our price range. In plain language, "more than I could afford".
course if I had a R-3 and the intake was missing, I probably would find something to sell, to where I could afford it. Just me.

Earlier this year someone sold a pair of NOS bolts that hold down the air cleaner on a Corvette 427 3-deuce carburetor...two freakin' bolts...for $862! The same bolts available reproduction for less than $6! These bolts aren't even visible unless the air cleaner lid is removed. Several people wanted those two bolts bad enough and those engines aren't rare...I have one and it wears two reproduction bolts keeping the air cleaner down.

As a standard of comparison, the price for that R3 intake is in the ball park of being reasonable. The laws of supply and demand, as always...apply.
